Dance. Dance. Dance.
Can’t stay long because I have to setup pretapes despite the fact I get the feeling we’re not gonna be needing our Horz & Verts. Rather be prepared than left with my head in the dirt. Spent the weekend prepping for SXSW. My camera is escorted back as I sit at this prison for the next five days. As you can tell it’s starting to hit me. Our representative will be capturing all the moments I miss & I will share them when he returns! Just hopes he has fun. Same with our friends over at Picksysticks. Can’t wait to see their spoils of concert warfare.
I’m gonna try to stay busy here. This is a start. Kick it!
Wanna trip out while listening to a hard rap track? Look no forward than the laser-tastic visuals for Big Boi’s Atlanta anthem entitled “King Sh!t”. Big Boi is joined by fellow A-town kings, TIP & Luda. Which Atlanta king rules this track? My points go to T.I. He freaking kills it.
The biggest surprise is Kito & Reija Lee, EDM imports out of London. The rap game isn’t know for it’s EDM collaborations, but something about this Kito & Reija Lee feels very promising. A fantastic blueprint for future artists.
Last day for hipster Just. ”Shadow” by Wild Nothing is as hipster as you can imagine. Soft keys & strings, unmoving, never changing static melody, and sweet as honey dew. It isn’t spectacular in execution. Just okay. Made for ambient moments in a busy life. Like a shadow. You probably wouldn’t know it was there unless you cognitively pointed it out. So, yeah…it’s a catchy tune if you make a connection with it.
Trying to transition out of this mellow mood. Only being powered by sure will. Like remaining flumes in a gas tank…it can only get me so far. My ‘lent’ promise is to learn how to balance my current crazy life. Financing new ventures are always need more finance to get moving. Our SXSW coverage should be fun. New correspondent. New photographer. More musical memories for a classic music lover. Gonna build our game plan this weekend. So excited for Santos.
But first we gotta make it through the week. And a day without meat. (thanks lent). Watch Wild Nothing perform on KEXP to kick off your day.
Head for that open door. Tiesto remixed Youngblood Hawke’s popular 2013 single — ‘We Come Running’ — awhile ago. It has the signature smooth rise & fall we expect from Tiesto. The song itself grows on you, even more so on this remix. So, enjoy. I’m running behind because of traffic. Wish I had more to say.
Dubstep-electro-autotuned-robotic Coldplay? Can you believe it? Truly remarkable evolution for one of the biggest bands in the world. When you’re competing with a U2 revival, the only way to stay fresh is to take a step towards the future. I absolutely love this robot channeling Chris Martin. His voice was put through a vocoder to create this signature sound. Curious how it plays live. Personally excited for the many remixes. Now that’s something to look forward to.
This is Midnight…the new single / music video from Coldplay! New album dropping soon.

Two of the biggest albums of 2014 go up against each other next week: Rick Ross’ ‘Mastermind’ & Pharrell’s unexpected ‘G I R L’. iTunes got first dibs on both albums that feature an all-star team of artists (Maybach Music Team, The Weeknd, Lil Wayne, Yeezus, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, etc.). Ricky the Boss has more guests, but it’s about quality and Pharrell is riding a huge wave now.
Here’s the ultimate choice. Do you take the Pink or Yellow pill? Maybach are rolling & we’re happy. Ride along to these amazing albums.

Don’t have much time to rant about this week’s record spin of the week. Merely passing through.
I dig it. Think y’all will too. The buzzworthy Phantogram always produces a sleek package of looming electronic-synthpop rock that is made for us futuristic romantics. ’Voices’ that blend together to make a haunting universal ghostly voice that just pounds at your heart strings. There are layers. Let’s start peeling back. Can you hear the Phantogram digital voice? You’re about too!
Not if you’re chained to your desk. But in my mind, I’d like to think I would try to go anywhere. John Martin agrees with a very Swedish House Mafia stylized debut solo effort. This is the first EDM, fist pumping, cut from his upcoming project. Enjoy. Music Video coming soon.
Heart beats in sync, lights reflecting off windows, and flashes of raindrops pouring from the sky are all I hear from the sweeping, organic, background Synthpop as it pulsates around Nina Yasmineh’s haunting vocals. That’s how I see “Ghost”, the new single from the B4M fav, when I close my eyes. This track is the follow up to her glowing buzzworthy ’7 Years’ EP that blew me away last year.
“Ghost” captures the fleeting moments born from fantastic memories. Love affairs. Crazy nights. Saying goodbye. And hopelessly fighting to no avail. Those open wounds…illusions…or ghosts. (For lack of a better word.) Nina Yasmineh’s single speaks for all of you.
Expect the music video to drop on Friday (Valentine’s Day). I’m quite curious to see what visuals Nina has chosen to interrupt her Lorde / Sky Ferreira / Birdy shade of pop. Wei’ll be sure to share it when it goes live! Until then, here’s some instant satisfaction from another ghostly siren.
Three more feet & I’d be there. Afrojack is already climbing high with his new lyrical visuals for his Wrabel track — “Ten Feet Tall”. With a beat that feels like your climbing up a electronic ladder…sit back & just sway to the magical composition. Wrabel will lift you up.
