Isn’t it always. Why can’t love be simple? Just takes some ‘slight work’. Wale & Sam Dew tell it like it is on the new — The Gifted (out June 25th) — track. Wale goes hard. Like a old school LL Cool J.

Not ‘Hey Ya’. ’Ya Hey’. The new single from ‘Modern Vampires’ by those nocturnal weekend warriors. This is a celebratory lyric video with moments of uncertainty. Shower yourself in some bubbly. The track is actually kind of hot. Ride to it over the weekend as it was meant to be!
Their much anticipated record drops on 05/14.

Oh! Oh! The choir returns with 30 Seconds to Mars’ new single – Conquistador. In the form of a fast cutty lyric video. Getting chills just listening to this. LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS spawns on May 21st.

First big SXSW post is down. Not really. Day 1 was the second smallest day at the festival. Wasn’t able to spell check any of it, so still have that ‘overthinking college student after turning in a last minute final paper after an all night bender’ sort of mentality…full of doubt. The one noticeable evolution, that I’m very proud of, is the placement of the photos. New thing for our WordPress articles despite being commonplace back on Blogger. The wordpress format is the most the challenging thing about writing a showcase review. Spend so much of my time clicking back & forth from the visual & text tabs that it messes up my authorial flow. Getting better at it. Moving forward I’m gonna write the post then make it pretty.
From a blogging standpoint, shows major growth on my part. Self review: A+ for effort, C- on content.
Big day ahead: Comic book shop with my friend than Sky Fierr– Frier– Fierrea? (Check the briefcase!) Oh, Sky Ferreira at the Bootleg. Knew it started with a ‘F’. Rolling with Pixie. He seems driven to capturing a very happy Sky compared the ‘over it, Taylor Momsen kind of attitude’ he saw at SXSW. Excited to see the 50 sides of the up & coming artist. Curious how High Highs will do. Children of Indie Pop Not sure how long I’ll stay. Gonna be a long one. Report to drop tomorrow with pictures uploading in the evening. Unless something goes wrong.
Nothing else to report. Happily. Here’s Kenny Chesney’s mellow country song — “El Cerrito Place” from his latest ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’. Gonna have the hook — I’m looking for ya baby…all night long — stuck in my head all day.

Can’t imagine the colorful birds, white sand beaches, sexy human candy trolling past palm trees of lush green, endless amounts of sunlight from your cubcile? Mr. Last Name London & his Brooklyn based troupe are here to help. Check out his new sexy two sided single describing his Rio sights. More you listen it’s not the Rio one would expect. On the edge of ‘Rio Nights’. Title of the unnamed crime novel I’ve never wrote.
The single is available next week with his new record coming soon.

Had the pleasure of knocking City & Colour off my bucket list back in Austin (see pix below). Simply incredible showcase that I can’t wait to share. Until then, here’s the first new single from Dallas ‘Mother Phucking’ Green entitled “Thirst”. Heart pounding beat to say the least.
City & colour returns with — The Hurry and The Harm — in June. Writing that down on my calender right now.
The Family Perry’s new record — Pioneer — is out right now! In support, they released a stylized war-timey chess match in music video form for the album cut entitled “Done”. The song’s great and makes me so excited to pick up the record after work!
It’s streaming on Spotify right now if you are impatient.

“This Video Should Played LOUD” is how the video starts…probably because the live version sound is off a tad in this music video. Bad joke. Regardless, ’Caught In The Act: Live’ is Eric Church’s first live album that is being released next Tuesday and “Over When It’s Over” is the official video promoting it’s upcoming awesomeness. Regulars should know this track from 2011′s ‘Chief’. Find it exceptional live.
Shout out to Eric’s backup singer – Joanna Cotten — who freaking kills it.
