Ha ha. Artist name like a popular car. Makes sense…you’re in for a hellva ride. The new Buzzworthy-’Spotlightable’ Jetta made my ears take notice this morning. All I wanted to do was leave, so I could go home. Filled with romantic lyrics that visualize midnight memories. What I took from it was this…can’t wait to end this 13 day work streak in a few hours. Get back to my couch, sleep, wake up, and sleep again.I have much research & planning for SXSW that I’ll be making spreadsheets till the sunlight raises.
My phone is blowing up with multiple photos ready to showcased from last night’s 311 intimate show at the Roxy. My coworker Steven invited me last minute. Said yes, because I can never say no to an impromptu showcase. He absolutely loved it. Me, so-so. Have never been a huge fan of 311. Just glad I got to see more concert because of missing SXSW next week. Gonna compensate here in LA in response. So, yeah. Gotta be selective with last night’s shots. All iPhone shot. So, expect some gems.
With that…have an amazing weekend readers! Buckle up because your riding into it with Jetta & her buzzworthy cut — “Feels Like Coming Home”.
Ray LaMontagne drops a new record in May. The road trip friendly first cut — Supernova — is like sugar in my folky eardrums. This track brings a smile to my face. Cuz isn’t it nice to hear Ray in a good mood? Instead of twisting / aching my heart. He just wants you to be his girl.
Heart beats in sync, lights reflecting off windows, and flashes of raindrops pouring from the sky are all I hear from the sweeping, organic, background Synthpop as it pulsates around Nina Yasmineh’s haunting vocals. That’s how I see “Ghost”, the new single from the B4M fav, when I close my eyes. This track is the follow up to her glowing buzzworthy ’7 Years’ EP that blew me away last year.
“Ghost” captures the fleeting moments born from fantastic memories. Love affairs. Crazy nights. Saying goodbye. And hopelessly fighting to no avail. Those open wounds…illusions…or ghosts. (For lack of a better word.) Nina Yasmineh’s single speaks for all of you.
Expect the music video to drop on Friday (Valentine’s Day). I’m quite curious to see what visuals Nina has chosen to interrupt her Lorde / Sky Ferreira / Birdy shade of pop. Wei’ll be sure to share it when it goes live! Until then, here’s some instant satisfaction from another ghostly siren.
Grab your shotguns. Miranda is coming…back…to getcha. Not really. Ms. Shelton downshifts the high octane guitar rifts for a very sweet beat, meaningful lyrics…that doesn’t feel forced…and just automatic. Sounds like she’s getting some “stuff” off her chest. Can’t help but relate.
This single is merely the first taste of Miranda’s upcoming 5th solo LP. Enjoy it. More words to follow soon.
Told ya I was back. Today especially. You know…gotta run with the wolf pack again.
Takes about 2 & 1/2 verses for Yelawolf to ramp up the speed of his delivery. Once you get there, a instant 2014 rap anthem is born. Hop back into his Box Chevy & bump some classic Trunk Muzik shit.
While we were away, Soundcloud had a makeover. Really digging the new style to the player. Give this post a little…pizzazz. Paolo Nutini was one of my college favs. Now he has made a return to the mainstream with his new single — “Scream (Funk My Life Up)”. Which takes a page from the BEPs’ rejuvenating style. If this is what the rest of the record sounds like, kind of makes me excited for 2014.
Now that ‘Nothing’ is the same, Drake takes a victory lap on his new non-album cut — “Trophies”. Aubrey should be proud. His album was full of acclaim. This track is for him. Not for anyone else. As he repeats on the track.
The horns & drums really show what was missing on the latest LP. Makes me curious how much was left off. But yeah, another non-album cut that really steals the show. #YOLO
Oh I’ll rock with you Ms. Anita. This very old school, 90s vibing track, feeling new single from the British soul artist will get you body moving to that bedroom indeed. Just make sure you hold onto something.
Anita told me that Marilyn Monroe’s “The Seven Year Itch” inspired the cover below. She’s a big fan. Then my recommendation is for make the music video much of the same. Don’t you think readers?
We won’t be posting Lady Gaga’s new one. Instead, here’s Avicii’s new single entitled “You Make Me”. His new record drops mid-September.
