1st Song of the Day: “How” by Regina Spektor

9 Oct

I stood over my IPod water droplets pricking it’s cracked glass completely spellbound by this track.  First time I ever heard it.  It’s just so beautiful.  ”I went through the whole album”, I kept thinking to myself.  Obviously wrong in thought.  Type of song that plays during the love point of a movie.  When the hero just lost their love after a horrible incident.  Nothing like my life.  Just haunting poetry to piano strokes.

Even now a hour later surrounded by 6  monitors, coffee glass with artistic images of Oregon that was presented to me four years ago full of Campbell’s soup…[Still not using it for coffee.  Mostly for red wine]…coke, water bottle under the dim lights of our post department.  Very sick, but fighting to get well.  I’ve wasted most of my youth sickly.  Hate feeling like this.  Hate that boy I once was.  Nothing I can do about it.  Just keep living as if I’m 100%.  One aspect of Scientology that I actually agree with. Biological will power, even though masked by fairies and aliens.  [Though don't quote me on that.  Judgement predisposed by being bombarded by criticism].  Spending the moments inbetween these sentence trying to clear the Thermos passage of noodles.  Are you mocking me tiny contraption?

Battled my poor internet connection in order to put up the 300+ images from Culture Collide.  You can view them all here:

Filter Magazine’s Culture Collide Music Festival – Sunday Photo Select featuring – Of Montreal, School of Seven Bells, The Royal Teeth, Niki and the Dove, DIIV, Bonde do Role, Colorfeels, Icona pop, Efrat Ben Zur, Marit Larsen, and more!

(None of them wouldn’t have been possible without Picksysticks. Know that)

The Norwegian superstar – Marit Larsen — grabbed hold of her pictures and let them loose over her social media allowing for some pretty amazing number counts.  I wonder if Sondre knows her?  My favorite pictures of the bunch were School of Seven Bells.  They were amazing!  Was blown away also by The Royal Teeth & Icona Pop.  Fun Sunday.

Caught up on TV during my recovery.  Really liking the spin on Kate & Castle’s relationship.  Promise not to spoil.  Let’s just agree that it’s classic Castle.

Not sure how I’ll feel after the day.  Will there be a Wallflowers showcase?  Or not?  Will by flu stricken body be able to cope with three hours of sleep?  Guess you’ll have to wait and see.  Come back to tomorrow for more rants to beautiful, awe inspiring music.  Seriously.  Hit play on this one.

1st Song of the Day: “Modern Love”

17 Aug matt nathanson modern love music video

Oh boy.  As I just said on the B4M/GN facebook, it’s nice to wake up to this.  Great song.  Now with a fun, very west coast, video.  San Fran never looked so good to boot.   Is it strange that I also want to seek out a taco truck?  Might make me feel better.  For yesterday didn’t go as planned at the day job.  bleh.   Every time I think I caught a break from being a rookie, stuff like this happens.  Enough dwelling.   It was amazing to end the day watching a private/exclusive showcase by Dead Sara at the Troubadour!  My ears are still bleeding from the ‘rock hurricane’.  It was a dream circumstance and especially fun networking with the few fellow bloggers/photographers.  Talking about past shows is by far one of my favorite things.  Big thank you to our sista site, Picksysticks, for being the remedy to crazy.  Need more friends like him.

More on DS’ showcase in a formal write up later on in the weekend.  With tonight’s Fun showcase dropping Sunday.  I’ve heard mix things about their shows, but I’m really looking forward to Chiddy Bang.   Again, Spoilers.

That’s it.  Gonna try to make it through the day without getting yelled at for stupid, ‘not really my fault’ mistakes.  If I do, fuck it.  Don’t get paid enough to deal with it in the end.  Have an amazing ‘modern love’ inspired weekend!  I’ll be hustling…
