August 31st. Labor day weekend. And this is how I started the day? My IPod must be psychic. Funny thing was I popped back in Promising Promises two days ago. Feel like this was a post back in the day, but can’t recall at all. Seeing it before live back in May was really cool. Watch it here. Didn’t think it was going to hold up throughout the crazy summer, but it has.
And it was a crazy life affirming adventure these past three months have been. For this new site especially. It all started with Ben Howard and finished with Opening Act on Monday. 16 hair raising shows. Captured on camera. Some of which I never shared. Probably 25 more I had planned, but never purchased. Not a lot compared to the rival sites, but having a full time [understatement] job and making time. Very ‘Big Year’ of me. Which one was my favorite? Here’s my ranking:
If I had to give a Special Showcase Award to any band it would probably be “The Peach Kings“. After Make Music Pasadena, which sadly never got a write up due to my vacation and laziness on aforementioned vacation, I was totally hooked by their sexy indie rock vibes that I picked up their record soon after. Go check the out. You’ll be impressed too.
Sitting here I got chills trying to think about how fast the past 90 or so days had flew by. From the new job, Newport beach, crazy party nights with my amigos, baskets of golf balls, hiking mountains with big sis, playing Video Games with my little cousin, and just getting fat eating Animal cookies while watching mindless hours of TV. All in fun.
The road to the holidays begins now with probably unknown epic shows on the horizon. We got Sondre Lerche (for a third time) on Emmy Saturday. Same place where I first saw him — home court. That’s going to be a very special showcase write up. Gonna divulge deep as a writer. Look forward to that. The rest of the pages are blank. Sure I’ll update you after this weekend. Wanna see something. Gonna peek around on the internet once I wrap up this. Or I’ll trade it for sandy beaches and ocean.
